The Madia is a traditional wooden dough box designed for hand kneading, proofing and storing pizza dough. Made in Italy using traditional methods, each Madia is individually produced and reflects the character of classic Italian pizza making.
Its generous working area provides plenty of space for mixing and kneading dough by hand, while the enclosed design creates a practical space for resting and proofing dough.
The Madia features solid Austrian fir wood sides, combined with a wooden base and removable lid. Its natural wooden construction offers a traditional alternative to modern plastic dough boxes and containers.
As a traditionally made wooden product, each Madia is unique. Natural variations in the timber, grain and colour are to be expected, alongside minor differences in joints, surface texture and finish. Small knots, marks, blemishes and other imperfections are characteristic of the materials and manufacturing process and should not be considered faults.
With appropriate cleaning, drying and care, the Madia can be used repeatedly for dough preparation and food storage.
Its large working area provides sufficient space for preparing up to approximately 3kg of dough, making it suitable for enthusiastic home pizza makers and anyone wanting to explore a more traditional approach to dough preparation.
Please note: The base and lid may use engineered/plywood construction and should not be assumed to be manufactured from solid Austrian fir.
